CHITTENANGO, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- Veterans in Central New York are sounding the alarm over new staffing shortages at VA hospitals.
This comes, after a new report shows VA hospitals across the country, including in Central New York are facing drastic staffing shortages.
Sen. Chuck Schumer sent a strong message to Washington: "Hands off our veterans' healthcare."
"Syracuse alone is suffering a severe shortage of over two dozen and the problem is only going to get worse if they are allowed to implement these cuts," Schumer said.
Thousands of VA jobs have already been cut and a new executive order is rolling back union protections that help hospitals hire nurses and healthcare workers.
