KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Many kids have dreams of being super heroes or rock stars and one girl battling cancer in Knoxville got to make her dream come true.
“I actually want to be a scientist and work as a doctor,” Ava Page said.
The 8-year-old said she wants to be a scientist to help make people healthy.
Page is battling a form of leukemia after being diagnosed last October. Her mom, Shadricka Sawyer, says she didn’t expect her daughter to want to be a doctor.
“I was shocked. That took me back a little bit. I wasn’t expecting that because normally she wants to be a dancer or a singer,” Sawyer said. “So this is something very different.”
Sawyer says after treatments and a bone marrow transplant, she wanted her daughter to have a chance to live her dream.
