A man was shot and killed Thursday afternoon in Rankin, authorities said.

The victim, a male in his late teens to early 20s, was found at the intersection of Oak Way and Duquesne Street about 3:10 p.m. after first responders were notified of the shooting, according to Allegheny County Police.

He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was not immediately identified.

“My thoughts are with everyone impacted by today's incident in our neighborhood. Violence is never the answer,” Rankin Mayor Joelisa McDonald said in a statement on social media.

Authorities did not name any suspects or announced any arrests. Anyone with information is asked to call the county tip line at 833-255-8477.
