CLEVELAND, Ohio — Rough marine conditions will return to Lake Erie on Thursday as elevated west to southwest winds of 15 to 25 knots develop ahead of an approaching cold front.

In addition, possible thunderstorms along and ahead of the cold front could result in strong wind gusts of 35 to 40 knots at times, according to forecasters with the National Weather Service in Cleveland.

As a result, the weather service has issued a beach hazards statement through late Thursday and a small craft advisory through 4 p.m.

Along the shoreline, the beach hazards statement covers Lorain, Cuyahoga, Lake and Ashtabula counties in Ohio. Forecasters say a high risk of rip currents will persist.
