A CCTV appeal has been issued after a man was 'repeatedly punched in the head' on a train service to Manchester Airport .

British Transport Police (BTP) are investigating the assault on July 5. The victim was attacked by another passenger at around 9.30pm.

The force said the suspect 'repeatedly punched the victim in the head' after they initially engaged in a 'friendly conversation'.

An image of a man has now been issued as police believe he could assist with the ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is being urged to contact the force immediately.
