DES MOINES, Iowa —

Law enforcement body camera videos have provided the first look at the hayrack ride crash in Keokuk County in 2023, where the organizer faces charges of child endangerment.

The ride organizer, David Heady, is charged with 13 counts of child endangerment. Law enforcement officers took the stand today to testify about what they saw the night of the hayrack ride crash. The mother of one of the children involved also shared her experience.

Cell phone video shows excited kids getting ready for a fall hayrack ride around Keokuk County in the fall of 2023. They didn't know that in just a few minutes, both the pickup truck pulling the trailer and the trailer would crash in a rural ditch, injuring 13 children.
