SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — As people across the Concho Valley and the State of Texas hit the road for Labor Day weekend, more Texas state troopers will be out on highways.
"We are focusing on any violations that promote unnecessary risks," said SGT. Justin Baker, Texas Department of Public Safety.
The Operation Crash Awareness Reduction Effort will continue through Labor Day. Troopers will be on patrol looking for drivers who are speeding or intoxicated. The goal is to make roads safer for all.
"That comes down to DWI, it comes down to distracted driving, speed, not wearing our seatbelts, not moving over or slowing down," Baker said.
In 2024, troopers issued more than 53,000 citations and warnings over Labor Day weekend. \
