SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A fire at a Springfield laundromat Thursday evening was traced to lint buildup in the building's dryer ventilation system, according to officials.
According to the Springfield Fire Department, crews were called around 6 p.m. to a reported fire at Liberty Laundry, located at 1365 Liberty Street.
Crews arriving on scene found flames in the dryer venting system, according to fire officials.
Firefighters quickly put out the fire, and no injuries were reported. The Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad investigated and determined the cause was excessive lint accumulation inside the ventilation system.
