Man jailed after what police found in the footwell of his car on M62

A man has been jailed after what police uncovered in his car after he was stopped on the M62 .

Keith Sherwood, 46, was pulled over in his Toyota car between junctions 5 and 6 of the M62 at around 11.40am on April 17 this year, a court heard.

Following a search of the vehicle, officers found a total of 13 parcels wrapped in brown tape in the footwell behind the front passenger seat.

Tests later revealed they contained cocaine. The total amount was 13kg which had been stashed in the footwell. Sherwood was arrested and later pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

On Thursday (August 28) Sherwood, 46, of Withers Avenue, in Warrington, was five years and four months at Liverpool Crown Court.
