Regarding the Aug. 20 article, " Bernie Moreno faces raucous City Club crowd in first public forum ."

Civil discourse involves engaging in productive conversations with the goal of expanding knowledge, finding common ground, and potentially leading to solutions to problems. Sen. Bernie Moreno dodged or sidestepped most questions put to him at the City Club event (e.g., did Trump lose the 2020 election?) and even outright lied (the Big Beautiful Bill will further fund/not cut Medicaid.)

Dodging questions and lying run contrary to the civil discourse we all hold precious, and it demands a prompt and appropriate response. Silence is complicity, and falsehood can never be given an amplifier to shout over the truth. Institutions as important as the City Club should never be sullied by false
