ON THIS DAY IN 1876 , the Brooklyn Daily Eagle reported, “The pleasant weather will send many visitors to the Centennial who could not be induced to go there while the heated term lasted. With the coming six weeks the great show will receive its largest number of visitors, and the crowds will be as interesting a spectacle as the grounds or the goods exhibited.”
