Two 17-year-old boys face murder charges in the shooting death of a young man at an east-end Toronto mall last week.
Toronto Police officers were called to the Scarborough Town Centre on Aug. 21 at about 1:50 p.m. and found Daniel Amalathas, 19, of Toronto, fatally shot in a washroom of the mall. He died at the scene.
Amalathas is the city’s 27th homicide of the year.
On Thursday, the two Toronto teens were arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
They were to appear in court at the Ontario Court of Justice on Armoury St. Friday at 10 a.m.
Police have not revealed a motive or the circumstances that led to the shooting. The accused boys’ names can’t be released due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
