ST. LOUIS — Special prosecutors will handle criminal charges against former Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein that stemmed from a pro-Palestine protest last year at Washington University.

St. Louis Circuit Attorney Gabriel Gore earlier this month asked for a special prosecutor, saying he had a conflict of interest because his wife Nicole Gore is the associate dean and director of the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards at Washington University.

In his Aug. 19 motion, Gore said his wife's office "has overseen all of the student conduct hearings that resulted from the incident at issue in this case" and that Stein's legal team had "requested all communications involving Nicole Gore."
