The former principal of Life Academy in Montgomery has been sentenced for stealing money from the school.

Court records say 37-year-old Jamia Anderson of Prattville issued nine checks totaling $44,667.60 between April 2021 and November 2023 and deposited them into her personal bank account.

Anderson was assistant principal from April 2021 to July 2022 and principal from July 2022 to November 2023.

Anderson was charged with theft of property 1st degree.

Anderson pleaded guilty in May and was sentenced to serve 30 days in jail, 1 year and 11 months of unsupervised probation and ordered to pay back the entire amount in restitution.

Anderson reported to jail for her 30 day sentence yesterday.
