With school about to open in the William Penn School District, teachers at East Lansdowne Elementary School got a surprise to make their day with a makeover of the teachers lounge.
On Wednesday, officials unveiled the modernized teachers lounge after third-grade teacher Rachel Albert won a national contest sponsored by Walmart and Crayola.
Walmart provided $3,000 in furnishings and décor, including rugs, artwork and tables for the teachers lounge as well as an $1,000 for enhancements such as snacks, plants and other comfort items.
“This makeover is a way to honor our incredible teachers and provide them with a space that shows how much they are valued,” said Jennifer Cifuni, school principal. “We are deeply grateful to Walmart and Crayola for making this possible.”
