GUILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A local chainsaw artist has been carving a tree at The Dudley Farm Museum in Guilford to honor Connecticut’s Native American history.

Jared Welcome has been carving farm animals and other elements of Native American life, aiming to give neighbors and visitors a window into the past through artwork.

"The Dudley Farm Museum commissioned me to carve a carving as an homage to all the agricultural and vocational trades and stuff that have happened at the museum over the vast years that it's been in service,” Welcome said.

Welcome noted he still has some more work to do. The full carving will be unveiled to the public at 11 a.m. on Sept. 6.

"The Dudleys were farming here for about 300 years, they had the property,” Mary Norris, who is on the museum board of directors
