MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A Middletown man is in custody after police said he assaulted and strangled his girlfriend at a restaurant on Aug. 17.

According to the Middletown Police Department, just before 3 a.m. an officer was on patrol when they walked into a restaurant located at 344 Main Street. People inside the restaurant told the officer that an altercation had just taken place outside.

The victim in the incident reported to the officer that she was standing at the register when her boyfriend, identified as 32-year-old Deon Camp, walked in and accused her of "being too friendly" with the other patrons of the restaurant.
