A Cumberland County elementary school employee has been placed on paid leave amid a law enforcement investigation, according to Cumberland County Schools spokesperson Lindsay Whitley.

Whitley said in an Aug. 29 statement that school district leaders were aware of social media posts regarding the allegations. He said the employee, who worked at Stedman Elementary School and Stedman Primary, has not been charged. The individual's name was not released.

"Cumberland County Schools takes all allegations of inappropriate behavior seriously and is cooperating fully with law enforcement," Whitley said in the statement. "Due to personnel confidentiality laws, we cannot provide additional details," he said. "Pending the outcome of the investigation, the district will take appropriate action."
