MESA, Ariz. — A 38-year-old man has been sentenced to prison after he pleaded guilty to a manslaughter charge, in relation to the 2021 death of his pregnant girlfriend.

Michael O. Foster received a prison term of 19 years when he was sentenced this week in Maricopa County Superior Court.

Foster was charged after Mesa police responded to a domestic violence call in May 2021 and found Foster's girlfriend deceased in an upstairs bedroom of the residence. The Maricopa County Attorney's Office said the woman was pregnant with twins at the time of her death.

Three children were inside the residence at the time when a fight between the couple ended in a shooting.
