IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa Community HomeCare and University of Iowa Health Care are alerting individuals about a data breach that may have compromised personal information. On July 3, 2025, UI Community HomeCare says an unauthorized person gained access to its computer system. The organization responded swiftly by shutting down servers and enlisting cybersecurity experts, restoring operations within one day.

The breach did not affect electronic health record systems. However, it involved some shared data files with UI Health Care, impacting approximately 211,000 individuals.
