TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) —Saturday is National Grief Awareness Day, a time to bring light to the experience of grief, including children. One in fourteen Idaho children will experience the loss of a loved one by age 18, according to the Childhood Bereavement Estimation Model.
A local organization, Because Kids Grieve, helps these children go through the loss through support groups.
Experts said one of the most important ways to help a child go through loss is to be patient and listen to what they say. While grief can show itself in different ways to different people, there are signs to look for.
“For all of us, young and old alike, you can only hide something so long, and it’s going to manifest some way,” said Mike Seward, president of Because Kids Grieve. “So with kids, sometimes
