Edmonton city council has approved changes to how roadway upgrades in the Lewis Farms area will be funded and delivered, a move councillors said was meant to tackle mounting traffic pressures in the city’s west end while avoiding costly delays.
The decision amends the Lewis Farms catchment within a bylaw first established in 2006 to fund arterial road construction in developing areas where costs are shared between the City of Edmonton and developers.

Administration said the new amendment allows developers to take on certain projects so upgrades can move ahead sooner, while the overall financial obligations between the city and developers remain unchanged.
