KILLEEN, Texas — The City of Killeen is paying tribute to two firefighters who gave their lives in service. The city’s new fire training academy will be dedicated to Captain Marvin Taylor III, while Fire Station 4 will honor Fire Rescue Officer Patrick Bergman.
Captain Marvin Taylor III was tragically killed on May 11, 2025, on Mother's day. His vehicle was struck from behind by a speeding suspected drunk driver in Austin, after leaving a hospital where his fifth child had been born. He was enroute to pick up his other children when the crash occurred.
Captain Taylor began his service with KFD in July 2014. Most recently, he served as the Operations Training Captain in the Training Division. Taylor held numerous certifications, including Swift Water Boat Operator, Advanced Structural
