Since the election of President Trump, there has been much angst, both nationally and in Northern Nevada. Shortly after the cuts began to federal programs and institutions, Congressman Amodei proclaimed in an interview with KUNR that he was against town halls with his constituents.

He continued, stating, “So, what I've told people outside of my office that were getting ready to picket, I go, ‘What's your issue?’ ‘It's education.’ ‘Well, wait a minute, my education guy’s in the office right now, let me call him!’ (I) called him in front of a group of teachers and said, ‘Hey, there's some folks out here want to talk about education issues. Can you take them into the conference room and see what their issues are?’ ‘Yeah.’ So I said, ‘Go on in. He's expecting you.’”
