The Colbert County Sheriff's Office announced increased security for the Deshler High School football game Friday. This decision follows an incident where student August Borden was severely injured at school last week.

Sheriff Eric Balentine said the Tuscumbia Police Chief requested their assistance due to the expected large crowd. The sheriff's office, along with support from the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office, will deploy five to seven deputies at the game.

"We're going to be there to ensure nobody else gets hurt," Balentine said. "And I'm confident that the character of the people of Tuscumbia will show tonight."

The increased security measures come amid social media threats that surfaced earlier Friday. Sheriff Balentine urged the community to prioritize safety and kindness.
