GRANGER TWP., Ohio — A drill Highland runs every day at football practice lit the spark Friday night in the Hornets’ 32-0 shutout of Hudson.

Evan Foust could have punching a football down to a science, and he found his opportunity to make the big play on a Hudson running back midway through the second quarter at Highland’s North Gateway Tire Stadium.

“I saw the gap in the line,” he said. “I went right through it. I saw he just got the handoff and I went to punch it out. We’ve been practicing punchouts the entire season.”

Five plays after Foust forced a fumble, recovered by teammate Dan Miller, the Hornets took the lead with 5 minutes and 6 seconds before halftime on a 1-yard run by Casey Myser.
