CLEMMONS — On his second day of being a high school student, freshman quarterback Brody Lowe learned that he would be the starting quarterback for the Grimsley Whirlies, the No. 1 7-A team in the state and 2024 4-A state champions, in their second game of the season.
Faizon Brandon, Grimsley’s senior quarterback and No. 1 player in the country who has committed to Tennessee, injured his right thumb in last week’s win against West Charlotte and will be out for several weeks.
On Lowe’s fifth day as a high school student and his first career start, he met the moment and helped lead Grimsley to a 31-17 win against West Forsyth by completing 13 of 21 passes for 306 yards and two touchdowns.
