DUNN, N.C. (WTVD) -- A deputy fire chief was seriously injured in a head-on crash while responding to suspected arson in Dunn Friday night.
Crews responded to a burning home on South Washington Avenue around 11 p.m. Minutes later, the deputy chief radioed that he had crashed on Highway 301.
Troopers said a pickup truck traveling northbound crossed the center line, slamming into his fire vehicle.
All three people involved in the crash were taken to a hospital.
Dunn police later arrested Yusuf Hassan, 56, for arson, but there is no word on any charges for the driver of the pickup.
