Aidan Rotbaum and Jeremiah Tirado combined to rush for 224 yards and two touchdowns for Nutley as it outlasted River Dell in a high-scoring season opener to the tune of a 32-27 victory in Oradell.

Rotbaum paced Nutley’s ground attack with 113 yards on 25 carries and a three-yard touchdown plunge in the third quarter, a quarter that featured Nutley and River Dell combining to score 33 points.

Tirado was close behind with 101 yards on 13 carries and a 19-yard score in the fourth quarter to cap off the scoring for Nutley (1-0). Tirado also returned a kickoff for an 83-yard touchdown in the second quarter and secured an interception on defense.
