Travellers can expect to see new DLR trains running along the line from September next month. While the new designs will be spotted between Stratford International and Beckton, they won’t be opening their doors to the public when they stop at stations just yet.
The out-of-service trains will run alongside normal services from September 1, as Transport for London completes testing on the new designs. These new railcars will have a special design and “not in service” signage on the front of the train and doors, so it will be clear they are not part of the usual service, say TfL.
It has advised all passengers to check the front of the train to ensure they are trying to board the right service. Trains which are available for customer use will display their destination as normal.
