ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - One of the iconic spots for game day on the University of Georgia’s campus in Athens is the statue of the late legendary head coach, Vince Dooley.
The artist behind the statue is Stan Mullins. He started working on the statue titled “The Character of a Champion” in 2003 and unveiled it in 2008.

Mullins believes it’s the first statue on campus to represent racial integration, with one black player and one white player hoisting up Dooley.
