ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A Henry County police officer shot a minor who was allegedly going after his mother with a knife, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).

The GBI said police were called to the home and learned the mother had locked herself in a room as her minor son, armed with a knife, was trying to break in.

Police found the boy in an upstairs bedroom with the knife, and an officer shot him, according to the GBI. He was taken to a local hospital, where his condition is unknown.

The GBI did not comment on what day the incident happened or where the home is.
