BATTLE MOUNTAIN, Nevada (KMVT/KSVT) — A swarm of earthquakes rattled a remote area between Elko and Winnemucca on Saturday.

The United States Geological Survey reported over 14 earthquakes since 10:54 p.m. MDT on Friday around Hot Lake and Willow Creek, approximately 38 miles north of Battle Mountain.

The most significant earthquake, which occurred around 12:59 p.m. MDT, measured a magnitude of 4.7 and a depth of 5 miles, according to the USGS . The earthquake was registered as Level VI on the ShakeMap , which included strong shaking and light damage.

Other earthquakes had magnitudes between 2.5 and 4.3 and depths between 2.1 and 8.5 miles.
