An American builder has claimed Australia is well behind the times when it comes to building practices.

Matt Risinger made the swipe in a YouTube video on his well-known channel, Build Show, after visiting Down Under for a building conference in May.

The clip, titled “Australian framing, I have some concerns” was posted in July after the Texan toured some construction sites in Brisbane during his work trip.

Risinger pointed out what he believed to be air-tightness issues as he walked through the site of an in-progress home.

“This is really how we built houses – and I’m not meaning to disrespect my Australian builder friends – but this is how we were building houses in America in the 1970s,” Mr Risinger said.
