ROCKFORD, Ill. — The Rockford Park District celebrated the grand opening of the Clarence Hicks Sports Complex, marking a historic day for the community.
The event was a celebration of hard work and collaboration, a vision nearly 30 years in the making. The $7.5 million project was funded through state grants, with support from local and state lawmakers and a donation from the Fred VanVleet Family Foundation.
The community was invited to experience the state-of-the-art complex, which features a full-size football field, an eight-lane track, and high-quality turf. The Chicago Bears also contributed a field from The Walter Payton Center, showcasing a strong team effort and community pride.
