ROCKFORD (WREX) — A Machesney Park man is facing charges after police found a stolen gun in his car following a traffic stop.
On Thursday, Aug. 28, Rockford Police pulled over a car driven by 37-year-old Emmanuel Shanklin of Machesney Park in the 400 block of Harrison Ave.
During the stop, officers found and searched a satchel inside the car, finding a loaded pistol that was reported stolen out of Beloit, Wis., and ammunition.
Shanklin was arrested on charges of Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of a Firearm with No Valid VOID, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Driving with an Expired Registration.
Shanklin was released from custody under the Pretrial Fairness Act after his initial court appearance. He is due back in court to be arraigned on Nov. 5.
