Tucked away in the woods of Forest Ranch is a perfect little cabin where Gahlia Powers lives and does business as Silver Dew Studio making gracefully minimalist sterling silver and semi-precious stone jewelry.

“It’s a wonderful place to work and be,” said Powers. “I have a huge window that overlooks my tea garden. I play classical or ethnic or belly dance music and just get lost in the work. Sometimes my husband comes home, and I realize I’ve been working for five or six hours without a break. Time just flies.”

Inspired by nature — the curve of tree branch, a puff of cloud — Powers keeps a little journal in her purse. There, tucked in between grocery lists, is where the jeweler sketches designs when something inspires her.

“There’s a constant roll of creative ideas for me,” said Powers.
