OROVILLE — Sitting at a picnic table at the Thermalito Forebay on Monday morning, Mike Moore shared that to him, Labor Day, “is just another day.”

“Labor Day used to mean your summer vacation is over and you’re going back to work. Now I’m retired and every day is a holiday and every meal is gourmet,” said the Oroville resident with a laugh.

While Moore visited the Thermalito Forebay during the federal holiday to take a walk, others kayaked, picnicked, grilled, and, like Moore’s son Jason, went for a swim. Morning visitors enjoyed a generously cool breeze and quiet atmosphere before more people began arriving at noon.
