Beef prices were higher in July, but the increase was less steep than some other recent months, according to federal data.

The average price for a pound of ground beef in the Northeast in July was $6.06, according to the latest figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That was a new high point in records dating back to 2015, but it was also an increase of just 0.1%.

Beef prices have been rising steadily in recent months. The increase in July was less than the multiple percentage-point jumps seen at times earlier in 2025.

The price in July was still up more than 11% from the same time last year.
