Authorities are searching the water for a missing boater after a sailboat crashed into the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway Sunday morning, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office said.
The Sheriff's Office said the boat struck the Causeway near mile marker 14. Two people were on board. One was rescued from the boat, but the other went overboard, the Sheriff's Office said.
The Sheriff's Office said the search is ongoing for the man who went overboard.
The state Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is leading the search, the Sheriff's Office said. Members of the sheriff's Office's Marine Division are assisting, along with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Coast Guard.
