HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WWBT) - A weekend of beautiful weather and no work or school is bringing people down to the James River for one last hoorah of the season.
Henrico Fire wants everyone getting out on the water this Labor Day to be responsible on the water.
“We try to make sure everyone has a good time on the river, but we need to do it so that everyone is safe and goes home,” Captain James Mellon, with Henrico Fire, said.
Among the biggest tips Henrico Fire has is for everyone on the boat to wear a life preserver and keep it on the entire time you are out on the water.
“Nobody plans to have an accident on the river. They happen, and without a life preserver, you’ve basically been involved in an accident without your seatbelt,” Mellon said.
