Trail users at Ladysmith’s Brown Drive Park will soon have a safer way to cross the creek with a new pedestrian footbridge set to be installed in September.

The town says construction on the bridge will begin Sept. 2, closing a section of the walking trail beyond the Story Book Walk and recreational bike trails until the work is complete.

“Until now, trail users have had to cross the creek using logs or stepping stones,” said Nicholas Pescod, the Town of Ladysmith’s communications and engagement specialist. “This new bridge will make exploring Brown Drive Park safer and more enjoyable for both residents and visitors.”

The installation is expected to take about a week-and-a-half, with the footbridge scheduled to open Sept. 15.
