ESSEX, Iowa —

The Essex, Iowa, Labor Day parade in 1996 featured marching bands, children, and an Olympian.

It was a happy homecoming for Sue Rigg, who ran the Olympic marathon for Great Britain. She was featured on one of the parade's floats.

Hundreds came out to celebrate Labor Day, but as a KETV reporter found, most didn't know what the holiday was.
