September is Hunger Action Month, a national movement that encourages communities to get involved and support those dealing with food insecurity. One in 7 individuals and 1 in 5 children are facing hunger in the metro.

Food Bank for the Heartland's director of communications, Stephanie Sullivan, and Erin O'Brien, with Visit Omaha, joined KETV in-studio to kick off the campaign.

"Since 2023, we've seen a 50% increase in food insecurity levels in the Heartland," Sullivan said.

During Omaha Restaurant Week, Sept. 12-21, enjoy discounted three-course dinners at participating restaurants. In turn, restaurants donate a portion of the sales to Food Bank for the Heartland through a collaborative effort between Food Bank for the Heartland and Visit Omaha.
