OMAHA, Neb. —

An Omaha veterinarian says he feared for his life after a burglar broke into his clinic early Saturday morning while he was sleeping inside.

Police reports show someone broke into the clinic, located at 120th and West Center, shortly before 5 a.m. The suspect broke the bottom half of the door to get inside. The door has since been boarded up.

“That’s the worst I’ve ever been frightened," Dr. Gerald Dobesh said. "The hair on the back of my neck was sticking up. It was scary."

Dobesh runs the clinic where he mainly gives pets vaccines. He said he doesn’t charge clients exam fees. He was asleep on a couch when he heard what sounded like a “loud explosion.”

“I was face-to-face with him,” Dobesh said.

He said his instincts immediately kicked in.
