OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - At the Millard airport, neighbors are learning about a career in the sky.

“We are seeing a rising interest in aviation which is good because the retirements are accelerating,” said Hague Howey, president of Aviation Stemaha . “And we need young people to consider aviation as a career.”

The aviation STEM day is a way to help to fix that deficit. Hague Howey tells First Alert 6, the aerospace industry casts a wide net when it comes to careers. Everything from aerospace engineering, airline pilot, transportation and more.

“In order to get up to the 1,500 hours that they need to be thought about in a cockpit situation, there are many sidesteps they can take to earn as they learn and build hours,” said Howey.
