BATON ROUGE, La (Louisiana First) -- Edward Cooper, a longtime resident of St. Helena Parish, said one thing keeps his mind racing: a tree hanging over McDaniel Road.

"I'm scared every time I see traffic going up and down McDaniel Road, which we do have deputies coming up through here running code three," said Cooper.

Nestled on the quiet country road, the tree has become what Cooper describes as a ticking time bomb.

"The school bus passes through here, and they put our children in, pick them up, and right here by the tree. I'm also concerned that the tree may fall across the school bus and kill somebody," said Cooper.

Cooper said the tree is dead, weak, and leaning dangerously close to traffic.
