SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — The city of South Portland will have road projects underway the week of Sept. 2, the first week back-to-school.

The city advised drivers in a social media post to expect delays and to drive with extra caution, with students walking before and after school. The city said it is not aware of any road work affecting school bus stops.

From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2 to Friday, Sept. 5, there will be paving and sidewalk work on Broadway near the Huntress Avenue intersection. The city is fixing damages from last week's water main breaks. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane, with vehicles alternating in each direction.
