(KRON) -- It is one of the most memorable two-week stretches in NBA history. "Linsanity" captured the imagination of basketball fans worldwide as the Cinderella story the world was seemingly rooting for.

Jeremy Lin was at the center of the phenomenon in February 2012 -- propelling in what turned into a nine-year NBA career. He is known as a pioneer who helped change the perception of Asian American basketball players.

Lin, 37, announced his retirement from professional basketball in a heartfelt Instagram post, saying he lived out his "childhood dreams."

Since his last NBA stop in 2019 with NBA champion Toronto Raptors, Lin has bounced overseas and played for the Taiwan Professional Basketball League (TPBL) various clubs in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).
