ATLANTA (WSAV) -- A couple of Savannah natives on the South Carolina Gamecocks contributed to the team's first victory of the season in the Aflac Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Aug. 31.
Calvary Day alum Michael Smith recorded a catch in the opening frame. The sophomore tight end caught a seven-yard pass from LaNorris Sellers. The completion occurred with 8:37 remaining in the first quarter. The drive resulted in a South Carolina punt.
Savannah Christian alum David Bucy recorded a tackle in the third quarter. The play happened with 5:47 left in the third quarter on third-and-2. The Virginia Tech quarterback keeper gained four yards and a first down.
South Carolina went on to win the contest, 24-11.
